Mendocino Headlands Eradication and Restoration Team

HEART works in Mendocino Headlands State Park, engaging with our habitat in a hands on way by removing invasive plants. California Invasive Plant Council defines invasive plants as: “plants that are not native to an environment, and once introduced, they establish, quickly reproduce and spread, and cause harm to the environment.”
Removing the invasive weeds opens up the space for the native seeds to sprout and thrive. The diversity and the health of the ecosystem increases as a result of their removal.

Join us on Wednesdays

We meet every Wednesday from 11:00-1:00 somewhere in Mendocino Headlands State Park. If you want to volunteer, email Carrie at
One or two days prior to our workday, she will send out an email indicating precisely where we will meet that week, what tools to bring, and what we will be working on. This is boots on the ground restoration work- come prepared with gloves, layers, and ready to get dirty!
