Your Action is Requested -

Supervisors Haschak and Williams are proposing a temporary moratorium on permitting of new data center developments in Mendocino County. During that period the Board of Supervisors and County staff would consider the potential impacts of data center developments on the County with the intent of establishing an ordinance to prescribe conditions and requirements for any future data center development projects requesting development permits.

Grassroots Institute’s Pro Democracy Workgroup adopted a motion supporting the moratorium. We encourage residents and community-based organizations to take a position of support for the temporary data center moratorium and communicate that support to the Board of Supervisors through testimony, emails, and direct contact with Supervisors.

There are several resources available describing reasons to limit and/or regulate them.

Sample letters and talking points are available to make it easy to write a letter of support. Thank you for taking the time to support this!

Here is the link to the Board of Supervisors agenda & calendar site. The agenda for the September 1st meeting and the e-comment portal will be available on Friday, August 28 to post comments electronically and to get information about participating in person or by zoom on the day of the meeting: https://mendocino.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx
